2019 Lexus RC F

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Lexus's high-performance F division, the Japanese brand's analog to BMW's M cars, the Mercedes-Benz AMG line and the S and RS models that top various vehicle ranges at Audi.

To celebrate, Lexus has rolled out an Anniversary Edition package for the RC F, the entry-level model in the automaker's sports car range.

The limited-run Anniversary Edition becomes the new top-trim variant of Lexus's compact coupe, building on the Performance Package trim (which is detailed below) and adding an embossed roof, sport-tuned performance suspension dampers, matte grey paint with blue carbon ornamentation, blue brake calipers and blue leather trim on the steering wheel and seats.

Anniversary Edition cars share with the rest of the RC F range a 5.0L V8 that makes 467 hp and 389 lb-ft of torque, which is put to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. While AWD has become standard (or at least common) across much of the Lexus lineup, the RC F is strictly a rear-driver in a bid to lend the car the purest steering feel possible for those drivers tempted to take this potent vehicle to the track.

Also carried over is the RC F's active safety content in the Lexus Safety System +, which adds a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, radar cruise control and lane departure alert with lane keep assist.

While Lexus's Toyota parent company is a poster child for fuel efficiency with its wide range of hybrid models, Lexus sticks with a no-replacement-for-displacement philosophy with this car's big engine. Meanwhile, the BMW M4, Audi RS5 years ago switched to smaller turbocharged engines to make big power and speed while better managing fuel consumption.

Standard features in all RC F trims include a heated, power telescoping leather steering wheel with paddle shifters, a 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, 7.0-inch screen for the infotainment and navigation, eight-way power heated and ventilated leather front seats, sport gauges with a full TFT display, push-button start, keyless access, parking assist and radar cruise control. You'll also get blind spot warning, LED brake lights, and lane departure and cross traffic alerts. The RC F also has LED headlights and water repelling glass for the windows.

The performance package adds a torque vectoring rear differential, unique alloy wheels, a full carbon fibre roof to save weight (it eliminates the sunroof) and an active rear spoiler.

The RC F's consumption estimates are 15.2/9.5 L/100 km (city/highway).
